Thornberry: Doubling Debt While Increasing Spending and Taxes is Not Responsible Budgeting
Washington, DC— Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) today issued the following statement on President Obama’s proposed $3.8 trillion budget for fiscal year 2011:
“Doubling the debt while increasing spending and taxes to record levels is not what I call responsible budgeting, especially during a recession with 10-percent unemployment. “The year 2009 is one in which federal spending and debt increased dramatically, government got bigger, and people’s confidence in government dwindled. It has been a long and disappointing year. And today was no exception as the majority rushed through a number of bills in their haste to get out of town.
